Mommy/daddy and me photo sessions, why?

Picture this: your daughter just turned 3. She is just starting to remember precious moments, and you want to find a fun activity to do with them. Enter, the mommy and me photo session! You want to take your daughter to the tulip festival, frolic amongst the tulips, go on a fun little ride, and eat an elephant ear. You can have those memories documented, by booking a mommy and me photo session! One may argue: "Why do a mommy and me session, when I could just do a family session and get all the photos done at once?" To that I would say this: while the family photo session has its place and is also a session I majorly recommend, the mommy/daddy and me session has a very special place. Today's blog is going to talk about 3 reasons why a mommy/daddy session is the best activity you can do with your child, and some location types I recommend for it!
Reason number 1: IT IS SO FUN. It's fun for you and it's fun for them! It's something that you will both always remember, especially because I will be there to freeze those memories, into forever mementos.
Reason number 2: Somewhere down the line, your child will wish they had photos of you, and photos with you. You will be giving them such a gift, now and in the future. One day, your child will get older, and so will you. Having these photos to remember your life and fun times together is a precious gift.
Reason number 3: Your child will feel so special. This type of photo session, where it's just you two, will give them such happiness and confidence in their relationship with you. Imagine your little boy, seeing his daddy in a shirt that matches his just right, ready to go on a fun adventure with him! And you don't even have to worry about fumbling around with your phone to take photos of him and lose your fun moments with awkward selfies, because I'll be right there to capture all of your sweet moments together!
So, you decided to do a mommy/daddy and me photo session? What locations do I recommend? I'm so glad that you asked! Here is a list of places that I recommend at different times in the year.
The Wooden shoe tulip festival. This is an amazing place to do a mommy and me session in the spring. So many different colors, and fun activities to do there. Your child will have a great time, and you'll get great photos!
An apple orchard. For your toddler that loves fruit and is always putting things in their mouths, apples
pop so well in photos, and picking them is so fun for them! They can even use a little bucket to fill, and empty as they please.
The cherry blossoms are such a whimsical and precious place to hug and play with your baby in early spring! You can pick up petals, put them in your hair, kiss your baby's cheeks and have a little picnic!
Let's find a sunflower field to run through during the summer! Get your daughter a sunflower dress and a yellow bow, and do kissy faces in a sunflower field. So many sunny and happy memories to be had in this kind of location.
Your child doesn't have to be a toddler anymore to do mommy and me photos. Put on your favorite dress and take photos with your older children! And older children, take photos with your aging parent. It is never something you will regret doing, any time of the year.
Go strawberry picking! Another fun and interactive activity in the summer, is to go find the reddest strawberry you can and put your little man on your shoulders. Such a fun, bonding experience for a daddy and son!
What could be more relaxing, than a stroll by the river with your little girl? A precious daddy and me moment that you and your daughter will never forget. Skip some rocks, go for a walk or draw your name in the dirt! This is an activity you can do any time of the year.
One more I will share with you is, doing a daddy and me session right in your front yard! That's right, I will come to your home and take photos while you interact in your own space. This is great for babies and toddlers that don't do well in new places, and are comfortable at home! This can be done in the snow, rain or on a hot summer day in the sprinkler!
So, in conclusion, a mommy/daddy and me photo session is NEVER a bad idea. You will make so many memories with your little ones, taking pictures in the apple orchards, or honor your elderly parent with a unique portrait session while on a walk in the park.
